If you loved The Thin Man last December, chances are good you’ll enjoy this 1936 sequel, set on New Year’s Eve. “After the Thin Man” sticks to the formula—party-hard quips, dog comedy, the occasional whodunit—and picks up right after the first film leaves off, as upper-crust libertines Nick and Nora Charles (William Powell and Myrna Loy) head to California to recuperate from their accidental detective adventures only to find themselves pulled into another mystery, this one involving a jilted finance played by a young James Stewart. Presented in 35 mm.
