DARK STAR (Revival)

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 9PM

When horror auteur John Carpenter was a film student in the early ‘70s, he and some pals spent a few thousand bucks slapping together a stoner-comedy version of 2001: A Space Odyssey. It still looks like it cost a nickel, but Carpenter’s nascent craft and the smart script—co-written with Alien screenwriter Dan O’Bannon, who also co-stars as the obnoxious Sgt. Pinback—hold up surprisingly well. Dark Star walked so that The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Mystery Science Theater 3000 could run.
