NEW RESTORATION

“Fantastic” is an understatement. René Laloux’s animated cult classic tells the story of the tiny human-like Oms, who are both pet and pest to the giant blue Draags, and the war that ultimately breaks out between them. The imagery of a hippie/Art Nouveau universe pulsing across the screen is worth the admission alone, but Laloux and co-writer Roland Topor’s story of overcoming oppression and finding common ground still resonates. -LG
