Of course, it’s bad—legendarily so. But it misses big. Hollywood Pictures spent a fortune (more than $100 million in 2023 dollars), and it’s all onscreen—gargantuan hyper-detailed sets, a zillion crazy costumes, and wall-to-wall practical effects with a tiny bit of crude CGI, plus Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo, Samantha Morton, Dennis Hopper, and poor Fiona Shaw giving the witless script their all. -LG
