Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow’s title characters don’t get that they’re a little dumb. And furthermore, they wouldn’t really care. They have each other (platonically) to face life and their judgy ex-classmates. There’s no good reason this Gen X catnip should be as smart, original, and hilarious as it is—the director and screenwriter are TV toilers—but it is. A little Hollywood miracle. -Lee Gardner
