Don’t know why this Orson Welles film isn’t held up alongside the likes of Touch of Evil at least. Maybe because, like Welles’ feckless Irish accent here, it’s kind of A Lot. The director’s scuffling sailor falls in with a rich lawyer (Everett Sloane) and his bombshell young wife (Rita Hayworth), launching a seafaring noir and a courtroom drama before ending in the famous hall-of-mirrors climax. -Lee Gardner
